I just finished "The Fourth Corner". For realsies, ya'll. After so long, I almost can't believe it's finally happened. With as long as it's taken me to write this one, I'll bet some of you can't believe it either.

Almost

I can't believe I am almost finished with this book. Well, the official first draft anyway. Next comes the rather painful editing process, and I know there are plot holes and all sorts of mess to correct. I'm hoping to get that squared away by the summer so I can have the book out in the fall of 2014. I promise book 3 of the Shadowside Trilogy won't be so long in coming. I am, however, taking a break from that universe after this. I need to write something else for a while. And how I ended this one has been emotionally draining. I think I need to write something less serious next.

You know how sometimes you're writing and things just happen? I'm writing the new ending to "The Fourth Corner" and something I wasn't planning on revealing in this book just sort of slipped itself in. It works where it is, but my characters just surprised me.

A little over 8900 words to go. This is it!

15. We're halfway there and it's a Friday! Just pimp something you've made and/or written. (And if you haven't written/made anything, pimp something from someone else that you love!)

I have published 3 books: My books on Amazon

Day 9

I missed posting yesterday. Damn.

8. Post a song that makes you want to write. (Or gets you in the mood to read All Of The Fanfic.)

I wrote the first edition of "In Shadowside" to Evanescence's Fallen. Lately I have been listening to Lori Carson's and Graeme Revell's "Fall in the Light" for 4th Corner. It just sort of depends what I need to write for what song or band I'll choose. In the chaos and death scene I just wrote where I killed a bunch of characters, I pretty much listened to Korn especially "Falling Away from Me" and there was a fight between Madison and Strephon that got "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys.

9. Who is your favorite villain?

Draco Malfoy, but I don't know if he really counts as an all-out villain.

I guess I would have to say Angelus... because leather pants, and OMG, is that ever the worst when you have sex with your boyfriend and he goes evil. Because the hot guy who's evil is way dangerous.

Which brings me to Loki.

I also dig both Regina and Rumple as villains on OUaT.

My favorite villains as a couple are Sylar and Elle from Heroes.

I'm sure there are others. I just can't think of them.

4. Share your favorite stories (with links!) from your first fandom love(s)/ship(s). Tell us why you still love them.

Yeah, that's not happening. No time to compile links. I need to get about 2K in words out tonight, but if you're really curious, read anything by Davesmom. I recently reread her stuff even though it is on the den of evil (FF.net). Her fanfic got me into D/G. I still love that ship because I love the bad boy and the good girl.

Honestly my favorite original OTP book is called "The Courtship of Princess Leia" by Dave Wolverton. There's a scene where C3PO is singing a song extolling Han's values. It's HILARIOUS. I'm giggling just thinking about it.

I ended my word could on a good note yesterday. I feel good about it. I can do this. I have so many words in my head. I should be able yo bang out 50k more, right? Yeah. Sure. I just hope people aren't disappointed in the ending to "The Fourth Corner". It doesn't end well, and I think what happens might shock a few readers, but please keep in mind that it is the middle book in a trilogy, and what "middle" in another trilogy do I love? That's right - Empire Strikes Back. Did that one end well? Decidedly not. Han's frozen in carbonite and Luke lost a hand. Not fun times. But there was hope.

I am also getting ready to go out of town for a writer's retreat. I expect to get a crap-ton done then. After this last week at work, I am ready to get away.

I've had a pretty good start to my nanowrimo this year. I am working on the ending to "The Fourth Corner". Yes, you read that correctly. I figure about 50 K in words ought to wrap it up. I had to scrap the original ending, so that's what I am writing. From chapter 20 on was completely scrapped. With the way the rewrites went, the ending has gone in a totally different direction, but that happens sometimes. However, before I started the ending for nano, the rewritten first 2/3's of it weighed in at 119,852 words. I can do this shit!

I believe I also mentioned that I am attempting to do nablopomo, hence these posts when I usually don't blog anymore. 30 posts in 30 days. It will be the most action this LJ has seen in YEARS. But I will also be tweeting about nanowrimo and posting word count updates to my Liz Ashe the Writer facebook page. Yes, that's what it's called. Shut up, and go like the page. :P

I'm participating in Nanowrimo this year. Remember the short story I did called "The Burn"? The novel will be set in that universe. look for postings after Nov 1st on [livejournal.com profile] echolibre.

I'm also about 50K words from being finished editing The 4th Corner.

plans

Hair dye. On my head. Yup yup.

This is the plan...

After my hair is rinsed off I will be writing one Faith mini and one W/SS mini for [livejournal.com profile] tth100. Then I will work on the last part of "Jealous Face" until it is time to get ready to go out tonight. Dinner, Hangman's House of Horrors, then Rocky. Still haven't decided on what i'm wearing, but my Draco tee is looking awfully sweet right now.

Before next weekend, I will finish "Jealous Face" and "The Distance to You." I do not plan to stop all fic for NaNo like last year, but November will mostly be me working on my NaNo novel and getting through the 200 drabbles/minis I signed up for on [livejournal.com profile] tth100.

eta: OMG! Hair is scary dark. Did not mean for it to turn sidhe red. Was supposed to be auburn. Gah! Now look semi-goth. All I need is racoon eyes and black lipstick. Upside... eyes look VERY blue.
spankerella: (faith)
So this is how it is.

I want to complete "The Distance to You" and "Jealous Face" before the month is out. My NaNo novel will be "Empire of Dirt". I have signed up to write some Faith at [livejournal.com profile] tth100. I'm a little sketchy on all the details, but I think I'll figure it out. The first leg of "Empire of Dirt" needs to be rewritten. Not a lot, just a little. At any rate, I am counting it for word count in NaNo, but I don't think 50,000 words is gonna get this puppy told, so I'm not worried about cheating. Besides, when I start counting and rewriting, I have already decided to observe the word count BEFORE, and only count the difference for the first part. Like say it's 5000 words before I rewrite and after the rewrite, it's 8000 words, then only 3000 are new and that's what I count.

I'm thinking about NaNoWriMo today. So I decided to take a poll. This might not affect what I write, as usual with my polls about writing, but I would like to know my readers' opinions, as always.
