spankerella: (violet not like)
[personal profile] spankerella
I have finally figured out a balance between house chores, reading, writing, and work.

Unbreakable spirit = still entact. I really don't know what's come over me. All I know is I feel in control today. I managed to get more accomplished today than I have in a long while... though the pinky and ring finger knuckles on my left hand hurt like the devil.

I was letting the dog in at my grandmother's house, and the cat was inside. The cat and the dog have issues. The cat reacted, much hissing and swatting ensued. The dog backed up very quickly. The dog is not a skinny miss. She backed into the door, knocking it into my hand rather forcefully. I have bruised knuckles now. I'm just glad it's not my right hand. Solid oak isn't the best thing to have smash into your hand. If I hadn't been at my grandmother's house, the swears that would have come forth from my mouth would have made Colin Farrell blush. As it is, I can't sleep. Hand hurts. So I'm typing. LOL. Well, actually, I'm using my right hand and my pointer finger only on my left to type. This has also furthered my desire to see the dog to an early grave.

I plan on writing some more tonight... even though I have written four minis today in between loads of laundry and bathroom cleanings.

That said...

Here's how it plays... There are 12 movie quotes from 12 different flicks. See if you can guess them. First come, first served. The ones in bold are still un-guessed, but checking the comments to make sure someone hasn't beat you to it isn't a bad idea either.

Please limit yourself to THREE guesses only, unless otherwise specified. Let's give others a chance, ay? Three shall be the number of the guesses and the number of the guesses shall be three.

*

Game on....

1) "You are fearless in a way that I shall never know."

The Village. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] tsorriana. I liked the twist in this one. I like that line. It's a great bit of dialogue. I also liked that fact the M. Night usually has a strong male lead in his films, but this one showed us a very strong female lead. I am all for the strong femme thing. Obviously. Read anything by me? LOL.

*

2) "Has the fact that you're completely psycho managed to escape your attention?"

10 Things I Hate About You. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] dropversedevo_t. I like Shakespeare in just about any form. This was said by Bianca. I liked Heath Ledger singing. It was cute. Did you know that the song he sang was the same one Mel Gibson sang in Conspiracy Theory? And further irony is that they played father and son in The Patriot. I notice odd things.

*

3) "I'm a homicidal maniac, they look just like everyone else."

The Addams Family. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] dropversedevo_t. I *ADORE* this film. I love Wednesday. She so dry and scary. I can so identify with that. Hell, that was what my Halloween costume was this year. Wednesday.

*

4) "I'd like to dip you in cheese and spread you all over a cracker."

Bringing Down the House. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] swlangley. This is a very good movie. It has many good messages in it, but Eugene Levy cracks me up. Also the fight between Queen Latifah and Missi Pyle at the country club is HILARIOUS! Watch it for that.

*

5) "I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend."

The Shawshank Redemption. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] lunykimberly. I *heart* these lines. It's one of the most beautiful set of lines ever written. I love the movie, and TNT plays it a lot... A LOT, but I'll watch it just to hear Morgan Freeman's Red say those lines.

*

6) "Don't fuck with the babysitter."

Adventures in Babysitting. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] amichandrn. Cheesy 80s movies, oh how I adore them. I grew up with movies like this. This one stars Elisabeth Shue. It's really fun and cute. And we all know I like those F bomb quotes.

*

7) "I find that smuggling is the life for me, and would be delighted to kill your friend the maggot."

Count of Monte Cristo. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] tsorriana. Hilarious. I love this movie. It entertains me every time I watch it. Richard Harris rocks the M-F-ing Casbah as Priest. I also find it amusing that the "count" grows a goatee and no one recognizes him. It's like no one knowing Clark Kent as Superman due to glasses. Very entertaining.

*

8) "Knowing life for what it is, living life for what it is... is the light of every human being."

The Hours. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] selanay. A brilliantly disturbing look at Virginia Woolf. So many things are going on in this movie. I like it. I like how things are so seperate yet ultimately connected. It's melancholy though. Don't watch it if you're already feeling down.

*

9) "Sweet? Where do you get off? Where do you get sweet? I am dark and mysterious, and I am PISSED OFF! I could be very dangerous to all of you! And you should know that about me... I am THE ENEMY."

Almost Famous. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] tsorriana. I love movies about writers. This one, in my opinion, is particularly brilliant. It was written and directed by Cameron Crowe who has written more things than you think he has. He's brilliant. One of my favorite screenwriters.

*

10) "Wouldn't a fly swatter be easier?"

The Karate Kid. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] selanay. Daniel says this when he sees Miyagi trying to catch a fly with chopsticks. To which Miyagi replies... "Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything." Too true. Another one of those 80s films I love.

*

11) "I always thought of myself as a house. It was always what I lived in. It didn't have to be big or beautiful, it just had to be mine."

Life as a House. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] selanay. Another bittersweet film. So good, but at the same time so sad. I like quotes about liking your own skin. I love "Little Vader" in this one. It also has another two faves of mine in it... Jena Malone and Ian Somerhalder. But I always love Kevin Kline because he has the look of my father. If you REALLY want to know what my dad looks like... watch the movie Dave. That's my dad there... only not as silly and idealistic.

*

12 "Don't fuck with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo."

Mommy Dearest. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] lizey. I love this movie. She was one crazy tough bitch. Emphasis on the crazy. I used to watch it all the time as a little girl and know that things could definitely be worse. "NO WIRE HANGERS EVA!"

I have only just stumbled across your journal through some fic avenue, but I just had to say; NUMBER 9 IS ALMOST FAMOUS.

You totally rock now, because you like Almost Famous. Not that you didn't rock before, because your fic has given me many a laugh, but now you just rock harder :-). Also, that quote from Shawshank is one of my favourites.

8: the hours, virginia woolf.

11: life as a house. ("i always thought of myself as a how." it took me a minute, but it shouldn't have, this is one of my favorite movies. work must be destroying my brain.) kevin kline says this one.

i think this finishes the list. yeah! i helped complete something today!

selanay

life as a house

it's funny you mention that about life as a house, kevin kline physically always reminded me of my dad (height, body type, the nose) but life as a house was just disturbing. my dad was an architect and passed away in the same way as this character. there are more similarities but those are the main ones. it has made the movie difficult to watch. i have only managed it 3 times no matter how i love it.

thanks for another cool quiz!
