it's been a while

Here's how it plays... There are 12 movie quotes from 12 different flicks. See if you can guess them. First come, first served. The ones in bold are still un-guessed, but checking the comments to make sure someone hasn't beat you to it isn't a bad idea either.

Please limit yourself to THREE guesses only, unless otherwise specified. Let's give others a chance, ay? Three shall be the number of the guesses and the number of the guesses shall be three.

*

Game on....

1) "Got any beer?"
"This is a school."
"So that's a no."

Ah, Wolverine, how I adore you. X2 of course. Also being a big Bobby Drake fan, this was fun. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] houses7177.

*

2) "I'm here to kick your ass, and you know it, and everybody here knows it, and above all, you deserve it. In fact, I think it's safe to say that this party is about to become a historical fact."

Some Kind of Wonderful. My fave Hughes film.Watts is like one of the best female characters he ever created. But this line was said by Duncan, the scary bald delinquent. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] camperx.

*

3) "Is that crazy enough for ya'? Want me to take a shit on the floor?"

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Jack rules. He ruled HARD in this one. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] nykohl.

*

4) "I am so glad that I got sober now so I can be hyper-conscious for this series of humiliations."

Postcards From the Edge. I love this movie. The book is better, but this has the same feel as the writer of the book, Carrie Fisher, also wrote the screenplay for the film. Yay, Dice. And you GO for reading a book on your commute. People should read more.

*

5) "You're lucky... he's lucky... I'm lucky... we're all lucky!"

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. See it in a theatre with a crowd at least once. It's an experience that I think everyone should have at least once, and if you are truly brave... dress up when you go. This was said by Magenta.... though Riff Raff is my favorite character. For obvious and not so obvious reasons. Yay, Brendan.

*

6) "Ever wish you could freeze frame a moment in your day, and look at it and say 'this is not my life'?"

Mrs. Doubtfire. I feel this way often. Especially lately. This is a good movie for more than the fact that Robin Williams is hilarious as Mrs. Doubtfire. It has a good message... the idea of what a family is, is not what is was in the 50s. It hasn't been for a long time. It's time we recognized. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] caffeinefairy.

*

7) "I'm as nice as I know how to be to every single person in that office. Everyone treats me like a bastard at a family reunion."

9 to 5. I love this movie. Always have. It's been a favorite of mine since I was little. See why Steel Magnolias was close? Dolly said this line. Yay, tiggermehoohoo.

*

8) "Since we no longer have to bleep cuss words, I promise I will get my mom to say 'fuck' by the end of this movie."

Jackass the Movie. What can I say... for a complete and utter asshole of an idiot, I think Bam's kinda attractive. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] sevenfourteen.

*

9) "Listen, you daughter! I have your asshole!"

A Life Less Ordinary. Perhaps one of my favorite quotes of all time. Just reading it cracks me up. It's by far one of the funniest parts in the film. Yay, Brendan.

*

10) "I've never seen a human this close before. Oh, he's very handsome, isn't he?"
"I dunno, he looks kinda hairy and slobbery to me."

The Little Mermaid. My fave Disney film of all time. One of my fave movies of all time. I even have a shire of LM figures and figurines, including a crystal Ariel in my room. *Note to self: Take pictures to show off collection. Yay, [livejournal.com profile] houses7177.

*~*~*

eta: Yes, normally there are 12 of these, but for some reason my brain was stuck on the number 10 when I compiled it from the quote vault. Also, I've been compiling a lot of things in groups of ten lately. Cut a girl some slack. LOL. I'm not at full echo strength. My mind has other issues pressing it. Mainly a crazy woman who thinks even though before she was ill she didn't have to vaccum every day, but since I'm the one doing it now... I definitely should. Every day. To that I say... bull poo.

[identity profile] camperx.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
argh.... I think I know what it is, now that I thought about it for a few seconds more...

[identity profile] camperx.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
BTW, I did a dirty dozen of my own... let's see how well you do, you movie geek you!

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Challenge accepted. Shame I was limited to three. LOL. I *AM* such a movie geek.

[identity profile] camperx.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Considering the fact that I'll probably only get one or two other responses to this, answer as many as you like...

[identity profile] caffeinefairy.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
#6. I want to say Mrs. Doubtfire?
Must dig out my copy of that movie.. I haven't seen it in years. Hmm should also find The Birdcage and Priscilla while I'm at this. Sorry random thoughts. I should stop typing now.

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct. Must alter post.

#4

(Anonymous) 2005-02-10 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Number four has to be "Postcards from the Edge". The line is almost exactly the same as one from the book, which I was reading on the bus this afternoon. Something good just came from my commute; who knew!

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! And someone who's reading Fisher. Excellent.

(Anonymous) 2005-02-10 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
is #7 "nine to five"?

(tiggermehoohoo)

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
yes.

[identity profile] rosefyre.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Er...is it just me, or are there only 10 quotes when the meme still says 12?

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It's because it's been a while since I did one of these and everything else I've been doing lately has been in groups of ten.

[identity profile] rosefyre.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Good to know it's not just me! *nods*

[identity profile] nykohl.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
3. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Haven't ever seen it, but it's like, my favourite quote of ever.

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
*is confused* How can it be one of your favorite movie quotes if you haven't seen the film? Or is it in the book? I've only read that book once... and it was more than a decade ago.

[identity profile] nykohl.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
No, from snippets I've seen on TV. They used to show it on TBS all the time, and I saw the previews, but the movie was always on when I couldn't make time to see it.
