update and more movie quotes

My mother is home. My term as a servant has begun. I think she likes ordering me about. I am trying to be patient and understanding, but my mother is a very difficult person to please. Also, lack of sleep and worry for her has made me VERY cranky. I have already had quite a few near blow-ups. I've held it together though. Amazingly. I don't know how long I can last. Please wish me extra patience. LOL.

AGAIN...

Here's how it plays... There are 12 movie quotes from 12 different flicks. See if you can guess them. First come, first served. The ones in bold are still un-guessed, but checking the comments to make sure someone hasn't beat you to it isn't a bad idea either.

Game on....

1) "Wondermutt, go get Bob!"

Summer School. [livejournal.com profile] kiramarie is too cool for school for having seen this one. Silly late 80s movie about... summer school. I just like it. It's a favorite among the film friends crowd here. Freddy Shoop (Mark Harmon) says it to his dog Wondermutt. There are lots of clever lines in this movie.

*

2) "Come out to the coast. We'll get together. Have a few laughs..."

Die Hard is correct [livejournal.com profile] caffeinefairy. This film is what most of my action movie buff buddies consider one of the difinitive action movies. John McClane (Bruce Willis) says this to himself in the ventillation shaft when he's crawling through with the lighter. I just like it because it's a silly thing for him to do in a tense situation. Plus the movie has AR in it... one of the best bad guys.

*

3) "I kick ass for the Lord!"

Dead Alive. Go, [livejournal.com profile] slythhearted! Peter "LotR" Jackson's first film. Gory zombie horror. It's just funny. The line is uttered by a kung fu fighting priest before he starts kicking booty.

*

4) "You're wearing the shirt of the band you're going to see tonight. Gutter, don't be that guy."

PCU. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] oracleholly. Man oh man, is this a funny little film. It's got so much snappy dialogue, and we all know I am a sucker for good dialogue. It also makes fun of many of the stereotypes one might find at college. It's funny to me because it came out when I actually was in college. Said by Droz (Jeremy Piven). Oh and Gutter is played by one of my favorite Swingers Jon Favreau. He's so money, baby.

*

5) "We have spent forty million dollars on a live TV show. You guys have got an ad with America's favorite old fart, reading a book, in front of a fireplace! Now, I have to kill all of you."

Scrooged. [livejournal.com profile] kinker_bell gets it. Gotta love Bill Murray in this modernized version of A Christmas Carol. There are so many takes on Charles Dickens' work, but I like this one the best. Of course the line was said by Cross.

*

6) "The hospitality in this country is as warm as the weather."

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] madannekidd, you go girl! Ahhh, the cheese. Ahhh, the non-Brit Robin. Ahhhh, Alan Rickman. He and Morgan Freeman had some of the best lines in that film. The above being an example. It was said by Azeem.

*

7) "My name is John Johnson, but everyone here calls me Vicky. Would you please follow me."

So I Married an Axe Murderer. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] kinker_bell. Another film with MANY great lines. This one was uttered by the late great Phil Hartman. If you are a Mike Myers fan, you need to have this one in your video library.

*

8) "I don't have a favorite color. Jesus, who HAS a favorite color?"
"Ah Tony, calm down."
"I'll tell ye me favorite color. Bollocks... that's me favorite color!"
"Excuse me. Eh Tony, a lot of people have favorite colors."
"Well, what's YOUR favorite color?"
"I don't have a feckin' favorite color!"

(hint: said in Irish accents)

The Matchmaker. I was really shocked someone actually got this one, [livejournal.com profile] taerowyn. Said between two old guys at the bar. It just cracks me up every time I watch it. I particularly love the line "Bollocks... that's me favorite color!".

*

9) "I got news for you, pal. You ain't leading but two things right now... Jack and shit, and Jack left town."

Army of Darkness. [livejournal.com profile] madannekidd gets it. The third Evil Dead film. This was said by our hero Ash who is played by the wonderful and lovely Bruce Campbell. I just love Ash. He's so... groovy.

*

10) "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses."

The Blues Brothers. [livejournal.com profile] slythhearted gets it. Said by Elwood Blues. This is another movie I think everyone just needs to see. It's just... funny. "We're on a mission from God."

*

11) "You people . . . if there isn't a movie about it, it's not worth knowing, is it."

Dogma. I sort of suspected you'd get this one, [livejournal.com profile] madannekidd, after reading the ones on your LJ. Uttered by the vocal love of my life... Mister Alan Rickman... while playing the Metatron. I like it because it's so true. Especially about America. Many Americans know more about the movie of the week than about the national news.

*

12) "If there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say."

Ghostbusters is correct, [livejournal.com profile] caffeinefairy. "Tell him about the Twinkie." I love Winston. Ernie Hudson was so great in that as the new guy. I like this one because that's how I feel about any good job I start. LOL.

Number 10 has to be Blues Brothers

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. I grew up being a big John Belushi fan, so as I do this, there will be several of his films referenced.

[identity profile] madannekidd.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)

6- Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves
9 - Army of Darkness
11- Dogma.

And on a personal note, hey. *hugs* Hope your patience holds. Seriously. And I hope everything goes well.

[identity profile] madannekidd.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
*grin* I do adore Dogma. My favourite quote from RH:PoT was Rickman's line, actually. Where he threatens to cut out Robin's heart with a spoon. I cracked up at that.

[identity profile] lady-sylver.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
And then the idiot foil type asks him "Why with a spoon?" And he says, "Because it's DULL you TWIT! It'll HURT MORE!!" Classic! And I haven't even seen that movie in about 11 YEARS! Since about early 1994.

[identity profile] madannekidd.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. *grin* The whole movie is a classic, if you ask me. Truth be told, though, I haven't seen it in an age as well.

*wishes for extra patience*

3 is Saved?

7 is Real Genius?

10 is definitely one of the Blues Brothers movies, but I can't recall if it's the original or BB 2000.

Other than that, some seem familiar but I can't place them.

Gem

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
3 Saved!? No.
7 Real Genius? No.
10 *IS* the original Blues brothers.

[identity profile] slythhearted.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
3. Is from Peter Jackson's Brain Dead which I think was called Dead Alive in the US release.

Long live Peter J.

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Again, yes. There will also be several horror movies on here as I do this because several of my good friends are horror movie buffs, so I've seen lots.

[identity profile] caffeinefairy.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Just a guess...

2. Die Hard

Ami

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
A correct guess though.

[identity profile] caffeinefairy.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait! *ami squeals in excitement*

12. Ghostbusters!

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct also.

[identity profile] kinker-bell.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Number 7! So I Married an Axe Murderer! Wow how much do I LOVE that movie!! "Like an orange on a toothpick." that line gets me everytime. And number 5!!! SCROOGED! *snickers* effin' hillarious movie.

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes and yes.

[identity profile] kiramarie.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
#1 is summerschool. Well, at least I think it is.

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You are correct, ma'am.

[identity profile] kiramarie.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yea!!! I thought it was. I remember watching this as a kid on cable. Totally thought the teacher was hot.

[identity profile] oracleholly.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Is #4 from PCU?...I think that was Jon Favreau's character.

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Droz (Jeremy Piven) said it to him.

[identity profile] oracleholly.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I think #8 is from Snatch...Bullet Tooth Tony..been awhile since I've seen the movie, but that sounds like him. **crosses fingers**

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, no. It's not from Snatch.

[identity profile] oracleholly.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
oh well at least I got one!!

[identity profile] australian-imp.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
*sends a big package of patience your way*

[identity profile] spankerella.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. It's really sad when you're so tense at home that you can't wait to go to work.

[identity profile] australian-imp.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs*

[identity profile] taerowyn.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Would #8 be The Matchmaker by chance?

[identity profile] taerowyn.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Not too much of a shock, I mean it's Irish accents and Janeane Garofalo sarcasm. These are two of my favorite things. I knew that I recognized it right away, I just had to ponder a bit until I could place the scene.

[identity profile] carinthea.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Not making guesses, just writing to say, you'll get through the nursemaiding time because you know she's only being snappy as she's sick. My mum is exactly the same, snappy as hell and then she'll mellow out a bit and be all weepy and nice (which throws me off even more).
