Today has been... unique.
Got lots of holiday cheer in the mail today. Mainly a music package from the family that lives at this livejournal...
tsorriana. But someone in my family ordered me... get this... Return of the King the extended version. It was delivered to my house today. I'm about to get my Aragorn on. I'm also DYING to know what was cut. I hope there's some more Faramir/Eowyn stuff. Or ANY actually... as there wasn't in the theatrical version. Anyhow, I've spent most of the day hanging with a friend that I've known my whole life. His girlfriend left him, and he's been a bit maudlin. He's my Star Wars buddy. He's the Luke to my Leia. And there's a war story there. With wounds.
We always played Star Wars.
One time we tied a rope to his swing set and we were gonna swing acros like Luke and Leia did in the Death Star in SW when the bridge was out. Well, the rope worked with just him swinging. He wanted to test it to make sure it was safe, goddess love him. But with me hanging onto his waist, we were a bit too heavy for his kid arms. We burned into the dirt pretty bad. I had bruises for like a week.
He had bunk beds. We'd pull the mattresses off and re-enact the trash compactor scene. We both had light sabers. Yes, I wanted to be a girl jedi (keep in mind I was six). I had dolls. He was the only guy I knew who'd play with the dolls as opposed to the action figures only. We traded out. One day we'd play dolls, the next it had to be action figures. We both had stuffed Chewbaccas. We both slept with them. We both still have them. We have watched every SW film together at least once. Even though we were two and three for the first one and don't remember. We have a date (not a DATE date) to see Revenge of the Sith together.
