Someone of you may or may not have noticed that I have removed my four fics from Adultfanfiction.net. I did so because I didn't think I was going to have time to keep up with that site. Plus, I don't write that much hardcore stuff. Also, most of the time I was on the site my connection would time out, so on the off chance I did find a good fic there, I wouldn't get to finish reading it when I wanted to.
Then there's all the stuff being said about the site on the TtH forums. I had heard of real person fic before. I usually avoid it at all costs. Someone has a fic up on AFF.net that's a real person fic where an actress, who is now of age, but is 13 in said fic, has sex with two adult men. I didn't read this, but I saw snippets of dialogue and stuff. I read comments. It only ensured I would NEVER read it. It's a bit horrifying to think about. I remember some complaints a while back about a fic set during the movie "Panic Room" where the daughter gets raped. I thought that had been removed, but I went and checked... and I found it. It's still there, but this real person fic business is more disturbing. It's like telling malicious gossip. It could be considered slander or is that libel? Someone one with the law-ing help me out here. I'd been kinda avoid-y and more picky with that site since stumbling upon some Snape/Crookshanks fic and not realizing that's what it was at first. Talk about ewww. There was also a Sirius/Narcissa fic incident... which wouldn't be so bad... except you find out like halfway thourgh that he's in Animagus form in it! That's right... he was a dog. Also eww.
I did mail the webmistress and ask her to delete my account. I didn't state reasons or anything. I didn't get ranty. I just politely asked her to remove me. I know she accepts all fics and removes nothing unless it is improperly labelled, so I figured what good would it do to complain? I might after she deletes my account, but I want myself disassociated with that site first.
I'm not saying anyone else has to do the same, but it's something to think about. I can't support a site that condones this sort of thing. I'm all for free speech but this goes a bit too far for me. I am by no means a prude, (hello LJ name) but I can't get behind pedophilia. That's just my feelings on it. Do with this what you will.
