Sometimes you have to say you hate them. Or write them off for good. Depending on the person, you feel bad or you can't do it, but sometimes people do inexcusable things and then, they have caused the ugliness, not you. And you can try not to make things worse by being equally nasty to them, but they're pushing you to hate them, either because they're messed up or they don't care about you. I have no idea whether what I'm saying is applicable to your situation, just that certain members of my extended family have a habit of doing hurtful things, just small ones, for no real reason, with no real remorse, to one of my parents, and one of those happened today, so I'm babbling.
