So glad livejournal has been down for the last two and some change days. I know it wasn't their fault really, circumstances beyond and all, but this is how most people are getting their information about me and my mother... even the friends who live in these parts. So much has happened in the last two days.

*deep breath*

The cancer did NOT originate in my mother's breast as they had thought. It originated in the tissue of her back. Still isolated though. With this new discovery, they decided on radiation first. I had to take off work on Friday, pick her up, and drive her to the Cancer Treatment Center in this area. Luckily it was not far. BUT... it's been hella cold the last few days here, and they were worried about my mother catching a chill. Couldn't be helped though. She needed the radiation to start. My mother now has a nifty tattoo on her back. That's how they mark you so the machine knows where to line up. It's just some dots. She joked that it was something we had in common now... tattoos. So she had radiation on Friday. I must add here that the radiation oncologist assistant Richard is very cute. Cute in this cuddle with me A LOT way. And he smells yummy not colonged... just... fresh. Like manly soap or something. It was nice. He also has very warm hands.

So anyway, my mother had her simulation (that's where they mark you and plan out the area for radiation) and her first radiation on Friday morning. She had her second radiation on Saturday morning. Saturday evening she took her first chemo treatment. She had her second chemo tonight. She got sick. I felt so horrible about her being sick. I don't think it was the chemo because they said that probably wouldn't start making her feel ill for at least another week or so. But then again, everybody's body is different so... anyhow, she's taking that new sort of chemo that doesn't go through your whole body. It just attacks the cancer cells. When I left her at the hospital earlier tonight. she was doing much better. She might get to come home on Wednesday, but they aren't certain.

I'm very tired.

Oh yuck. Sorry to hear she is getting ill from the chemo even earlier than expected. Your mom can now join my mom in the "random, free form tats" club. Those dots rather like in cool style but woot for their functionality.

Random question that you are in no way obligated to answer..just an FYI. Have any of the medical staff talked to you and your mum about what she is eating right before chemo?? I know they have done some work around giving people highly unusual tastes or foods they are not wild about right around time for their next chemo treatments since sometimes they end up with negative responses to those foods in the future. I am sure it is a mostly psychological effect but I know there were somethings my mom couldn't stand to look at for years after chemo because she had been so ill later.

Get some sleep and take care of yourself. Keeping you both in my prayers. *hug*
