Well, though I don't know how much I'd count it as reading a book, I am reading a decent chunk of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales...and am amazed that it counts as a banned one. That, and Frankenstein...the entire Grade 11 class at my old high school is reading that right now.

There are so many SO MANY books that are considered classics and are read now in US high schools that used to be banned in this country. My big one is "Catcher in the Rye".

I feel... okay, yes, I feel pissed that some students aren't being force-fed books like "Of Mice and Men", various Shakespeare titles, etc. I had to read the darn things and now parents get all prissy proper and want to ban them? I say - pft! Yes, that's right - pft! Their kids should have to endure the same hell that all other high school students have had to endure. There isn't a single thing wrong with any of those books. Oh, sure, some of them aren't personally to my taste - but that doesn't mean I want the rest of the country to quit reading them.

Indignant m-f'ers stomping over everyone else's rights.
