Horror movie list for October viewing.

Someone was asking me to rec some scary stuff, and then it just snowballed into this list. This is by NO means everything out there. It's just stuff that I've liked for various reasons... in ABC order, no less. You will notice a decided lack of zombie films. I don't like zombie flicks, so there. I also could have put WAY more vampire flicks on here, but I wanted to be a little more well-rounded. LOL. If there are years or names next to a title, then it means get that one. Otherwise you could be in for a craptastic viewing experience. Especially in the case of Psycho.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit reply.

On a not-so-horror note...I thought this would amuse you, given your Sponge-Bob history.

I love that someone else likes Near Dark. Usually if I bring it up, no one has ever heard of it. I once thought I should do a crossover between it and Buffy, Willow/Spike, where Willow hears of this guy in Kansas who has cured a couple of vamps and they go to meet him, but I never got around to it. And that was way to much info for a post that was mostly supposed to be "near dark, yay!"

It's a vampire flick. There are very few vampire movies that I have not seen. But Near dark is a good one.

I usually don't watch werewolf movies, personally. So it will be interesting to see if I can make it through Ginger Snaps. This is, of course, due to childhood trauma in which I was about 6 and a babysitter left American Werewolf... on while watching us. It was terrifying. *shudder*

I also don't watch zombie movies. That's for the whole flesh eating thing. Creepy stuff.

I do so love me some RHPS - but its hardly scary. *grin* Almost bought it the other day when I was gracing Target with my presence, to be honest.

Will give Evil Dead a shot, just because everyone seems to have seen it except me.

Don't know if I can handle Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Saw clips of it on one of those top 100 scary movie moment type shows. Speaking of which, if you haven't seen it already and want a horror movie that looks to be veeery disturbing (judging by the clips) - get The Audition.

I still haven't watched the end of The Grudge. Which is okay. I don't need to see Jason Behr die. He's much too hot to die, damnit.

Lost Boys had me not eating rice for years. I swear. I couldn't stand the sight of rice, not even with my chinese food.

Queen of the Damned I watch only because of Stuart Townsend. *drool* He's no Lestat...but he's still drop dead sexy.

The Ring was creepy the first time I saw it. No time after that, though. And The Ring 2 had to be one of the worst sequels ever.

Ah, Phantasm. Good stuff. All of them. The Tall Man creeps me out like no other.

Except for Pennywise the Clown. I haven't seen IT in so long. Need to make with the watching of that again. It is my second favorite Stephen King movie - with The Stand being first in line. I enjoy both books so much more than the movies, though.

I have a hard time enjoying most vampire movies since I know some asshole is just going to kill the vampire. Vampires so rarely win and its just my way to root for them.

Is 28 Days Later a zombie movie? Shaun of the Dead is, right? But in a funny way, I've heard?

Will give Near Dark, The Omen, Prince of Darkness, The Serpent and the Rainbow, Stir of Echoes, Watcher in the Woods, and Waxwork a shot. After I'm done with Ginger Snaps and the latest Hellraiser flick. Not sure what it is about Hellraiser, but I just enjoy it way too much no matter how cheesy it gets.

There were only four Zombie flicks on there. I'm not much for the eating of the flesh either. Werewolf flicks always fascinated me though. Almost as much as vampire stuff.

Ok, if you're going to go Evil Dead, I'd go with Evil Dead 2. Just because it's not as creepy. It's got a lot of humor to it.

It has one of the girls from Ginger Snaps in it when she was little. Emily Perkins.

28 Days Later and Shaun of the Dead are zombie flicks. 28 Days Later is hardcore. It's awesome and it has this whole indie style thing going on which is why I love it, but if you don't like zombie flicks, I don't recommend it. Shaun of the Dead is funny, but it's also a horror movie. It's just good.

Near Dark is an excellent vampire film. The Omen and Prince of Darkness deal in the devil. Serpent and the Rainbow is just creepy. I saw it when I was little. I remember it freaking me out. Stir of Echoes is AWESOME. It's a ghost story. Watcher in the Woods is... well, Watcher in the Woods. It's Disney, but Disney in the 70s. Waxwork is a mix. there is some werewolf stuff in there, but nothing too hardcore. The film's got a light and cheesy side to it.

Woot to the Rocky Horror!!! Of course when you watch it you need to do the Time Warp and spray water pistols or else it isn't fun.

Whoa...It...-shivers- When I first saw that (about two years ago) I laughed during, but three months later it scared the shit out of me, lol. As for Children of the Corn, took me a LONG time to watch it all the way through.

The only thing that scares me is the main vampire in the original Salem's Lot.

Great picks! I love the fact that you have Waxwork on your list... "oh, that's [i]gotta[i/] hurt!" became a personal catchphrase after seeing it.

Hmm, a movie that might be worthy of consideration for the list is Cube, both for it's Sisyphean ending, and for the Lord of the Flies dynamic. [i]Creepy[i/]

damn...
