Ok, I'm crying right now. Not because I'm unhappy.

Laura, dear, sweet, talented, Laura from the EA group has agreed to do the cover art for "In Shadowside". This means more to me than I can probably put into words. Laura was one of the first people to read my book. She was one of the first people to not only tell, but show me how much she liked it. She was the first person to ever do any sort of manipulated art for "In Shadowside". When Jenn suggested she do the art for the book, I jumped on it. I wanted it badly.

So I got the email today saying that my novel cover art will be completed by early next month which means the book will likely go into layout and print by December or early 2006, so it seems 2006 might be the year of the Shadow for me.

Funny that around this time six years ago was when I started writing fanfic... as an attempt to hone my skills as a writer. If you want to be a writer, I so recommend starting in fic. I would not have the skill I have now without it. Fanfic taught me a lot, and I just would like to say now that I will never be one of those authors that gets fussy about it. If I even start "Rice-ing", certain people in my life already have my permission to totally call me on it.

*still crying*

Kinda scary when you find out the thing you've been dreaming about for YEARS is really on the cusp of actually being.

*hugs* Congratulations! I so cannot wait for In Shadowside to come out. I don't know how I'm going to get it, but you can bet that I've got my eye on Amazon for this. I cannot wait to have it in book form, in my hands for real. You give me hope that one day it'll happen for me, too.

Can't wait to see the cover of the book! (Can't believe it's going to print, soon... Wow. It seems like just yesterday and yet a million years ago that I first read any of your stuff, or In Shadowside).

Contrary to popular belief about me, I am actually NOT the catfight type. I'd rather get along with people. I rarely like to debate with anyone about anything. I'll present my opinion, but I won't force it much.

That is not to say if someone comes at me that I won't defend myself. I can actually get very nasty on that front. Especially if I feel I am being attacked for a silly reason.

But I don't go anywhere looking for a fight.

Wow. I'm sure the cover will be so cool with her artistic skills. Yea! I am so looking forward to holding your books in my hands. I still remember reading it for the first time on your site and just loving it. I'm sure the novel form will just be as lovely. Hopefully you'll hear a publishing date soon. For some crazy reason I just can't wait to show Zac the actual book that I started reading right after he was born. I'm sure he will be properly in awe. *rolls eyes* The most I expect to get is a "Wow! That's cool." Unless there are what he refers to as "monsters" on the cover. In that case he'll probably try to take off with it!

Oh wow. I'm so excited about this actually happening for you. I also can't wait to actually have In Shadowside in my hands instead of reading it on a screen. I know a published author...I feel like a fangirl. I so admire your willingness to put In Shadowside up for a hacking to get published. I don't think I could ever do that with my original "baby". I won't even let people read it because I'm too afraid of the slashing it will get. Hell, I won't eve let Raye read it, much to her annoyance.

I also read Rough Spirits yesterday. I was in such a "NaNo" mood. It really made me miss your originals and especially the "witchy" parts. Are you doing NaNo again this year?

Oh, it was so not easy putting "In Shadowside" through the editing process. That caused some crying too, but if I had never written fic, I would have in no way been ready for the criticism I had to take for the book. It would have broken me, I'm sure. Almost did anyhow, but then I bucked up and changed some stuff and held firm on others.

Oh yes. I am planning NaNo this year. I even got a counter on my info page here at LJ to remind me how long I've got before I need to have a definite idea about what I want to do. I can't decide if I want to write my heart of darkness... or something more in my comfort zone... something supernatural. I've been toying with the idea of rewriting and finishing a whole novel from that part of "Empire of Dirt" I have up.

Oh man. A movie would be *SO* awesome, but I don't want to think about that. Might jinx it. LOL.

I think I've finally decided that, yes, I am actually doing a chicklit. I'm still reeling in shock from that decision. I never really pegged myself as a chicklit writer, but I guess I'll give it a shot.

A movie WOULD be too cool. The soundtrack to that movie? Double awesome, as well.
