Geez, well that post earlier was certainly a Miss Cranky Pants post. Gah! I have a good mind to delete it, but I won't. That is how I felt at the time, and if people haven't figured out that I can be overly sensitive about the most inane things when other things are bugging me well... Also, if you think that I might have been talking about you with the correcting thing, I wasn't. The persons in question have already been replied to by me. They know exactly who they are, so if you didn't get an email, don't go thinking you're special. And if you did... well, then you know my views on it. I'll spare you getting the brunt of my bitch again. I certainly never said I was perfect, and I certainly resent an opening statement like this one...

I was totally amazed when perfect little Echo, the self-appointed Queen of the Crossover, decided she was actually going to allow the minions to point out typos in her work. I'm going to love this.

Bite me. Hard. Maybe DD's trolls aren't better than mine. *thinks* No, DD's trolls are still better. Maybe you guys should take troll lessons.

I was going to reply to your last post but I'll put it here instead. That opening statement would send the calmest person I know into a right snit so don't apologise for being pissed off.

I for one appreciate the fact you don't have a beta. Why? Because I am an impatient sod who enjoys reading things as soon as you have written them. There is a freshness to your writing style that is absolutely delightful to read. One of the things I enjoy the most is your command of the English language. Throughout history great writers have been able to take the language and mold it into something special. In doing so they did away with writing as a form of academic discourse and made it into something alive - something that captivated and delighted its readers. Your work does that for me. If a few typos slip through in the process - so what? It's a very small price to pay.

Thank you. Seriously. I kind of don't know exactly what to say here. I've always had a problem with compliments.

While I realize this is probably not going to be popular with many people, anyone who thinks that a beta's job is to pick apart the author’s work and ‘improve’ it is out of their tree. A good beta reader is just that: someone who reads a work, catches typos and corrects them without making a big deal out of them and _perhaps_, depending on their agreement with the author, make a few _suggestions_ about clarification of points or style. We DON’T TRY AND CHANGE THE AUTHOR. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to see someone about having their ego punctured. No professional editor gloats over their changes, and there’s no reason for any Internet beta to do so.

Echo, while your style is idiosyncratic, it works for you. I wouldn’t have suspected your work isn’t beta’d, as it is certainly not sloppy and if you don’t like the ways betas work, then that is, of course, your individual choice. I say keep doing what you’re doing, you’ve clearly got more fans than enemies.

I raise a horn in praise of this one here. Echo, sweetie, we love you. And honestly, I have yet to see in your stuff where you've needed a beta. Unlike me, you seem to be pretty good at spoting your own mistakes. If it weren't for the fact the I have no handle on spelling or gramar, I'd go sans beta. Ignore those sick morons out there. Wouldn't know good stuff if it swatted them a million times on the head and then kicked them in the ass. :-P to them.

Maybe that's why I don't have one. Every person I've ever been unlucky enough to try as a beta felt certain it WAS their job to change me a little. Finally, I just gave up on it. I don't have anything against betas really. I'm glad for them when I actually have time to go and read fic. I just have little use for them myself, but then we all knew I was a little off. And if we didn't... sometimes I'm a little off.

That sounds like someone with more than just a hint of malice and a healthy dose of envy if you ask me, I'd take it with a pinch of salt and them to piss off back into the hole they crawled out of!

I use a beta but believe me, I need one but still, if the person I used took that much pleasure out of pointing mistakes I'd seriously reconsider.

Every one makes mistakes, for whatever reason, tiredness, enthusiasm to race ahead with all the thoughts and character voices in your head etc and it's hard to pick out your own mistakes if they're not glaringly obvious but that doesn't warrant some smart arse thinking that because someone isn't impervious to the same mistakes we all make that they can shout it to the hills.

He/She sounds nothing more than a spiteful sod, I hope all that rubbing their hands with glee gives them bloody blisters.

*hugs you*

You know, I'd like to have these envious people live my life for a few days. I doubt they'd be so envious then. Yeah, I will admit it takes very little effort for words to come spilling out of me, but there are other areas of my life that take maximum effort.

Jules, you rock though. Thanks.

I would like to correct the pompous jerk who called you the "self appointed Queen of the Crossover". I realize that I probably have no authority whatsoever, but i absolutely love your work and in my mind you will always be the Queen of the Crossover. There, you are no longer only "self appointed".

That's just it though... I never appointed myself that. If anyone, in my eyes, is the crossover queen, that'd be Jinni. She's both prolific and multi-genre'd.

i still wanted to apologise. i always feel better when someone says they're sorry.

besides, i suck at baking. so if i sent you cookies to cheer you up, you'd probably just end up more offended.

Good grief.

Please believe me when I say if it was you I was angry with, you would SO be knowing it. I am not kidding when I say I have a temper. When you prick me, sometimes I don't bleed sometimes I breathe fire.

I appreciate the apology though, unwarranted though it was.

Dude, when I had a beta reader, I *hated* it. I don't blame you for not going the beta route. Mine always made fun of my mistakes and made me feel really dumb. It sucked. What sucked more was letting my brother beta my stuff. OMG. Never let family correct your stuff.

I have to argee with the comments being made, has this person/troll (always a reletive term 'person') actually have the nerve to think that their understanding of the english language is better than anyone else's.

Defination of Editor/Beta

One who proofreads in order to assist an author, not belittle or make fun of.

Just because you can make a comment doesn't always give you the right to.

Personally i have always enjoyed your use of the english language, it is refreshing to read work by an author who actually knows their craft, they are few and far between, but always worth the wait.

Keep up the good work, i look forward to reading your next masterpiece.
